Central East Infection Control Network (CEICN): Strategic Plan
Executive Summary The Central East Infection Control Network (CEICN) was established in September 2006 to provide Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) advice and service to stakeholders in the Central East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN 9). Since that time, the Central East Infection Control Network (CEICN) staff, Steering Committee and partner organizations have built the foundation of a robust IPAC network in the Central East LHIN region. As one of the most recent regional infection control networks in the province, the CEICN has adopted a pragmatic approach to operational network development. Building upon the operational successes of the precursor networks, CEICN has leveraged past lessons and rapidly developed a functioning network model for the collaborative enhancement of infection prevention and control information and best practices. The CEICN clearly understands that this start up operational success is a step towards the realization of the true value of a regional infection control network in the Central East region. The CEICN recognizes that the effectiveness and reputation of the regional infection control networks lies in the ability to positively impact infection prevention and control practice today and in the future, thereby reducing infection rates and improving patient care. To this end, the CEICN has developed this strategic document as a road map for moving from the functioning operational state of today to the desired strategic state of tomorrow. Through a collaborative, stakeholder driven planning process, the CEICN has defined a meaningful, measurable Vision that resonates with clinicians, administrators, health care providers and patients and aligns with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care’s (MOHLTC) Provincial Regional Infection Control Network (RICN) Strategic Framework:
This document represents a Strategic Plan for the CEICN that reflects regional needs and expertise and aligns with both the other Regional Infection Control Networks and the MOHLTC approach to infection prevention and control. It represents a structured approach to effectively and efficiently apply the knowledge, skills and passion of the CEICN staff and partners to systematically improve IPAC in the Central East LHIN.
