About the Waterloo Wellington Infection Control Network (WWICN)
The Waterloo Wellington Infection Control Network (WWICN) is the RICN that serves the geographic area of the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) #3. This area includes the Region of Waterloo, the County of Wellington including Guelph, and part of Grey County including Southgate Township.
The WWICN is in process of updating contact lists to include relevant agencies in the area, and has identified over 250 agencies and over 500 individual contacts so far. The breakdown for hospitals, long-term care, public health and community is as follows:
The WWICN is building upon a long history of existing Infection Prevention and Control Networks in the area. Two CHICA-Chapters, SOPIC and HANDIC, are populated by WWICN members. There are two public health units that have strong relationships with their acute and long-term care partners, and all are eager to build new relationships and work together to address some of the infection prevention and control gaps.
